INSTRUCTIONS FOR ANALYSIS OF A PATIENT WITH A PSYCHIATRIC DISORDER Before you begin to write the paper, read all of the components to be included below. Compare and contrast these attributes and antecedents with those discussed in the textbook (Townsend, 2017). D.) Complete AIMS on patient. Discuss a summary of the results (including the patient’s score) and interpret the results in light of the patient’s diagnosis(es) and acuity level. PLANNING AND GOAL SETTING A.) Identify the clinical goal of the patient’s treatment. B.) Discuss the patient’s perception of their own short and long term goals. (In 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years). C.) Discuss factors that may facilitate or hinder goal attainment, including physical, emotional, social (family, spouse, children, etc.), spiritual, financial, cultural, and lifestyle choices. D.) Determine and discuss if the goals are realistic. If the goals are improbable, propose more realistic and attainable goals with rationale. IMPLEMENTATION A.) Discuss the patient’s psychopharmacological treatments (including classification, action, nursing implications, side effects, contraindications and pertinent lab values). If the patient is not currently receiving any medications, use medications indicated for patient’s diagnosis(es). B.) Research the Patient’s diagnosis(es) in 1 textbook and 2 psychiatric nursing journals and compare and contrast the care of the patient at Terrell State Hospital with care recommended in the literature, including psychotherapies (purpose), patient/family education, referrals, and support groups. Discuss at least five evidence-based nursing interventions that would be appropriate for this patient. EVALUATION A.) Provide an evaluation of the effectiveness of current treatment and nursing interventions. B.)
